Chapter Eighteen
âYOU SLEPT WITH HER again. Good for you.â
âEasy for you to say, Julia, but Iââ Blair paced the room, holding her head. âWhat am I doing? Iâm getting too involved. I came here to regroup from a bad relationshipââ
âAnd to finish a book,â Julia interrupted.
âYes. I know. But now thereâs Collins and how I feel about him and this place. I feel like my whole world is about to change and I donât know what I should do.â
âHey, I have an idea. Tomorrow is Friday. How about I throw some things in a bag and come and spend the weekend with you?â
âReally?â
âSure. Let me come, Iâll meet these people, inhale some fresh air and then maybe I can give you a better perspective on things.â
Blair sat in the window seat and looked out. âIf you can do it, Julia, I think that would be great.â
âPerfect. I have a meeting in the morning, so Iâll be there in time for cocktail hour. You do have cocktail hour?â
âIâll make sure you have a cocktail hour. Thank you, Julia. Iâm so happy youâre coming.â
Smiling all the way, Blair headed down to the dining room. Realizing she hadnât heard from Carolyn or Haven about whether they would be there for breakfast, she quickly scanned the tables. Spotting Carolyn and Collins, her stomach flipped as she thought of the events of the previous evening.
âGood morning,â she said, as she approached the table.
âJack.â Collins jumped up to hug her.
âGood morning, Blair.â Carolyn poured herself some coffee. âCollins was awake early, and so thatâs why weâre here already.â
With Collins still wrapped around her waist, Blair struggled to pull the chair out.
âJust you two this morning?â she asked, sitting down as Collins finally let go and returned to his seat.
âYes. We havenât seen hide nor hair of Haven this morning and Ed was in the office early. Lots of reservations coming in for the weekend.â
âSpeaking of that, my friend and agent, Julia, is coming tomorrow afternoon to stay with me for the weekend.â
âIsnât that nice?â Carolyn patted Blairâs hand.
âI canât wait for her to meet you all and show her around.â
âI have an idea. Why donât you bring her over to the house Saturday night and weâll have a barbecue?â
âCarolyn, thatâs very nice of you, but I donât want to impose. Youâre going to have a busy weekend.â
âNonsense. It will be easier on us to just throw some things on the grill after we get done in the office. Come Saturday, the fun is just checking people in, and the staff does that.â
âWe can have hot dogs, Jack,â Collins whispered to her.
âWell, I canât say no to that. Of course, we can help cook.â
âNot to worry about that, dear,â Carolyn said, shaking head. âThatâs the beauty of having a resort kitchen. Iâll just go through and pick out what we need, and it will be brought to the house.â
âI hadnât thought about that, but it is a very nice perk,â Blair leaned over to say to Carolyn.
They were finishing breakfast when Blair got a text.
